Can You Get Pregnant So Soon After Childbirth?

I just gave birth to my very first baby 1 month and 11 days ago.  I have been bleeding off and on the whole time.  It stoped (for a week now) and my Husband and I had sex last weekend. I started bleeding again yesterday (4 days later).  Could I have gotten pregnant? or do I have nothing to wory about?

First of all, congratulations!  That is so exciting.  Any time you have sex that is unprotected, you run the risk of pregnancy.  However, it is unlikely in this situation.  If you are breastfeeding, you reduce your chances even more.  I think that you are just experiencing normal body changes with the bleeding that happen after pregnancy.  If you become concerned about it in a few weeks, take a home pregnancy test.  Remember, your periods can be irregular for quite some time after pregnancy.  I hope this helps.  Good luck!
