QuestionWe have been trying for almost 2 years now. I was on the shot before I got pregnant the first time for about 2 years and went off and got pregnant 8 months later and had a good pregnancy all the way through and had a healthy little girl. After 6 weeks after I had her I went back on depo and 2 years later I went off and it's been almost 2 years since I have been on the shot. I finally got pregnant and 8 1/2 weeks later had a miscarriage. Is this from depo? The doctors didn't tell me anything thing other than offering me a d&c when I found out. It's been almost 5 days and no big clots just bleeding still how much longer should I wait before I go back in?
AnswerJamie,
Being on the depo injection could have caused the delay in conceiving, however I am not medically qualified to tell you if it could cause a miscarriage, although I am inclined to say not. Sometimes there is no explanation for a miscarriage, it doesnt make it any easier to accept, but its natures way of saying something just wasnt quite right this time.
As you have managed to get pregnant it shows that your body is returning to normal from coming off the depo injection, and that you ae ovulating. Are you having a regular cycle? If you are not then I would discuss this with your doctor.
The bleeding can last a different amount of days for each woman, and you wont necessarily see clots. If you are in a lot of discomfort then I would see your doctor. Did you have the D&C? Although again this is different for every woman, having a D&C for me completely stopped the bleeding and allowed me to concentrate on the emotional side of the miscarriage.
I am really sorry to read about your loss, and I hope the physical symptoms quickly settle down for you.
Kind regards
Christine
