Understanding Megasize Platelets: Lab Results & Accurate Counting

LAB TEST REPORT SHOWS PLATELETS COUNT 49000 , WITH REMARK THAT PLATELETS IS OF MEGASIZE , SO RESULT IS NOT CORRECT .
SO WHAT TO UNDERSTAND ??  HOW TO COUNT ACCURATE PLATELETS ??

Hello.  The statement on your lab report is correct: When the platelets are "megasize" or "giant", the machine used to calculate them are not accurate.  Usually in this circumstance, at the hospital lab I work at, we will do a "Platelet Estimate" by looking at the stained blood smear under a microscope and estimating the actual number of platelets. You may want to check with your doctor to see if this was done.
