Understanding Urine Test Results: Mucus, Sediment & Automated Count

What does mucous, urine sediment, automated count, qual test for? And what does it mean when it says present??

Hi Denise, I'd be glad to try and answer your question.  Present means that you have mucus n your urine.  Mucus in urine can be normal, but also it can be a sign of Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), ulcerative colitis, or kidney stones.  If all of the other parts of your urine test are normal, then I'd say the mucus in your urine is normal.  But check with your doctor, you may need further testing.
