AnswerHi Shelly. Mean platelet volume (MPV) is a machine-calculated measurement of the average size of your platelets. New platelets are larger, and an increased MPV occurs when increased numbers of platelets are being produced. But your MPV is lower than normal, but only slightly. As long as your actual platelet count is normal, you have nothing to worry about with your MPV.
