QuestionQUESTION: I dont understand if my results are normal. My GFR cuacasian is >60 and it talks of ckd. M gluclose is 67 with a flag of low. And my urinalysis is *1. My ph is <or =5.0. What does this mean?
ANSWER: Hi Linda. The GFR (Glomular Filtration Rate) is a relatively new test to detect early kidney disease. It is a calculation based on creatinine in your blood. (CKD is Chronic Kidney Disease.) For this test, the lower the number, the more kidney damage there may be. So the normal result is >60, so your result is good. Your glucose is only slightly low (normal is about 70-110). Do you have any symptoms of low glucose (hypoglycemia) such as dizziness, weakness, or fatigue? If not, and if you were fasting for >12 hours prior to the test, then that's probably why your glucose was a little low. I don't understand the result you provided for your urinalysis (1*). But the pH of less than 5.0 is OK. It means your urine is acidic. Diet can be used to modify urine pH. A high-protein diet or consuming cranberries will make the urine more acidic. A vegetarian diet, a low-carbohydrate diet, or the ingestion of citrus fruits will tend to make the urine more alkaline.

QUESTION: I had not fasted for my results and I do have a huge problem with blacking out. Itll happen anywhere anytime. I have learned how to fight through it so I dont fall down. It doesnt happen daily or even weekly, sometimes it happens once a day for several days then it could be a week to a month before it happens again. I have tried talking to my doctor about it and I cant get him to understand.
AnswerHi again, Linda. Your blacking out could be your blood sugar. You need to make your doctor understand. That's his/her job! Check out this link for more information:

Armed with more information, maybe you can check in again with your doctor. Good luck!
