High Platelet Count: Understanding Risks & When to Worry
QuestionI have been diagnosed with both myeloproliferative and myelodisplasia, my platelet count is currently 924,000. When does this become dangerous. I asked the doctor and had no real answers.
AnswerHi Tammy. Are your under the care of a specialist, such as a hemotologist? If your were just diagnosed, then you probably need to see a specialist, who can better help you. I'm not sure of the point where a platelet count gets dangerous, because it can be different in different people. Some people normally have a high platelet count. But not as high as yours of 924,000. People with severely high platelet counts can be at higher risk for blood clots. Make sure your doctor can give you real answers! Be persistant!
