QuestionHi my wife had surgery a few years back and due to her surgery doctor's removed right ovary, fallopian tube. Doctors did Leave left ovary and partial left fallopian tube. She had a lot of cyst on ovary why they had to remove. She still get her menstrual cycle we tried ivf but her ovary did not respond to the follitism only one and half eggs developed my question is there anything else for us or is this it please let there be other options thank you for your help in advance anna's husband
AnswerHello Anna's husband from Canada,
First, I wouldn't write off the IVF just yet. Your doctor needs to evaluate and see if changing the medication, changing the protocol, increasing the dosage, etc. can make a difference. If the doctor only used Follistim, did he use 600IU dosage? That is the maximum. Also, she might respond better if the combination protocol is used using both Follistim and Menopur/Repronex. Again, a high dose protocol might be better. Also keep in mind that outcomes are different in different centers because there are difference in protocols.
If she does not stimulate well, then IVF with her own eggs might not be a good option. The alternative would be to use donor eggs with IVF. She could still get pregnant with this method.
