Hand Pain, Swelling & Tingling: Possible Causes & When to Seek Help

Question
It has been well over 24 hours and the problem with my hands is still present and starting to get more painful. The pain gets worse as soon as I touch something, even when I put them under cold water. I don't have insurance so I can't go to the dr. I have had 4 headaches in the last week. Is it possible that this is due to high blood pressure. I haven't been diagonsised with anything. But my grandparents both have high blood pressure. Thank you again.

Question -
I woke up at 1:30am because my hands were hurting. Like the skin was being stretched. I went to the bathroom and turned on the light. I could see that my hands were swollen, pale with red spots, and tingling. I took a benadryl, because a few hours before they were itching. I got back in bed and started to have trouble breathing, my chest started to get tight and I could feel my throat constricting. To the point it was hard to swallow water. Since then my breathing and everything is okay, but my hands are still the same. If I don't move them I noticed that the pain goes away. I am having a stressful time right now my first child is not 7 months old and I haven't been able to get a job. And money is starting to get tight. Could this all be stress related or maybe high blood pressure? Thank you in advance for any information and help=:)

Hi Andrea,
This might have been just the way you were sleeping. The blood supply might have been cut of causing this problem with your hands. As for the chest tightness and sensation of your throat closing up, this could be stress. I would certainly see a healthcare provider if these symptoms continue. These symptoms seem a little extreme for stress alone.

Answer
Hi Andrea,
I do not believe that this is due to high blood pressure. In as much as this is still bothering you, you need to go to the doctor, insurance or not. This is not the forum to diagnose and treat acute changes in your health. It is only informational.
