Persistent Hiccups: Causes, Relief, and When to Worry

my fiance been having hiccup for four days.even he sleep still having the hiccup what can you suggest.1999 this happened also the dr.said can find why he been having this. he been taking prilozec.

Hiccups or Singultus for a short period of time (say a few hours) is OK, however when they linger for days that can be a problem.  There are some very serious conditions associated with chronic hiccups such as tumors in the GI tract, cancers, lesions in and around the lung or mediastum.  It could also indicate severe GERD (reflux disease).  He should see a Gastroenterologist at once.
