QuestionI've been having this increasingly over the past year. It has been especially noticeable in the past three months. My last flow started Sunday and was down to almost nothing last night (Mon). I had some leftover flow today, but just the tip of a tampon.
I am hypothyroid and was 2.8 the last time my TSH was tested a couple of months ago. I have been losing weight since October and have undergone an extensive GI workup to r/o IBD and explain why I have iron-deficient anemia. No explanation was found for the anemia and no IBD. I'm sure my infrequent nosebleeds have not helped, but I was having terrible stomach pains until about three weeks ago. Oh yeah, I have AS, migraines, and am bipolar.
I take verapamil for migraine prophylaxis, indomethacin and methotrexate for my arthritis (AS), Aciphex for GERD (probably aggravated by the NSAID), and Lithium, Lamictal, and Cymbalta. Plus, folic acid and Claritin.
Lord, I know it's a lot. Is it possible that my meds have caused me to start having lighter and lighter flow? My mother didn't go through menopause until she was about 52. I'm only 42. I'd say maybe it's my thyroid except that I'm losing weight even though I'm cold sensitive right now.
Is this what they call a non-pathological condition...so nothing to worry about? I've had my fill of docs lately (no offense meant) and have been putting off my annual checkup and mammogram for a few months. I do know better...been waiting for money to not be so tight.
Any information and reassurances you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
Elaine
Answera lot of those medications can cause period abnormalities.... Also, always think of pregnancy as a cause and of weight change and stress as a cause. Sorry, can't do any more, but if you had all the tests, you can be pretty well assured that something horrible isn't happening
