Persistent Vaginal Itching: Exploring Possible Causes & Solutions

Question
I hate to ask this over the computer however I have been to my Dr. 2x now, with no relief and need some possible avenues to explore.
I have been experiencing sever vaginal itching for about 1 year now.  I have little to no discharge(dc) that is white in color.  There is no odor to the dc and from what I can tell I have no "fishy" or foul odor. The itching seems to come on at night when i settle in to go to bed.  When it first started I had been wearing thong underwear exclusivly, switching to cotton crotch did not help (I am still wearing cotton crotch regular undewear).  I have had a normal pap, and was treated with Flagyl for what the Dr. Called bacterial Vaginitis.  I have also noticed that I now have a bruise like mark on the inside of my Vagina towards the bottom.  I never noticed it until I started itching and tried to check out what was going on down there.  I asked the Dr and she said it is unrelated. The itching seems to start on the very inside of my Vagina and then goes up to the clitoral area. I am on the Depo Provera shot and have been for about 5 years.  I have also noticed that about 6 mos after this started I am having problems with residual urination.  I will urinate and minutes later feel the urge again and only release maybe 5-10mL of urine.    I am not having painful or burning urination.  Please help point me in the right direction as it's not only embarasssing but it's frustrating and my spouse is starting to wonder why I always itch down there!  I think I provided everything if you need to know anything else please ask!

Thanks in advance,
Holly

Answer
Yes, it sounds like bacterial vaginosis which I treat with plain yogurt douches daily for 1 week or sitz baths in luke warm water and plain yogurt by adding 8 ounces of yogurt to 1/4 tub of water without soap OR inserting a tampon covered in yogurt or a finger if you prefer. This restores the normal germs
