QuestionMy wife has been taking tums for her calcium, but doesn't like them. Would 1200 units of Calcium(Schiff Brand) with 400 units of Vit D. be a good one to use. She also get 400 units of D from her multi vit. Would the total 800 be too much vit d. She also took Vit K with the tums. If she switched to the Cal with D could she eliminate the K
Appreciate any info you can gibe
Thanks
AnswerHi Bill and thansk for writing,
There is no problem taking the Schiff Calcium along with her daily MutliVits - 800 units Vit D is within the safe recommended daily dosage of 1000 IU.
As for ther Vitamin K - it really depends on WHY she was taking it. If your wife was taking Vit K as ordered by a physician for a blood condition, then she can't just cut it out. Vit K should not be taken without consutling your family doctor as it can lead to serious and potentially fatal side-effects.
Hope this helps,
Happy Holidays,
