Humidifiers vs. Vaporizers: What's the Difference & When to Use Them?

What is the difference between these two devices. For what symptoms / conditions do I use one or the other.

Humidifiers increase the percent of water in the air, vaporizers cause liquid water to be sprayed into the existing air.  Typically humidifiers are long term units to increase the percent of water in the air, and vaporizers are used during a cold, to help with cough / cold symptoms.
