Black Lines Under Fingernails: Causes, Concerns & When to See a Doctor

I have little black lines underneath my fingernails.  I have always been a nailbiter up until recently, so I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.  Is bleeding under the nails a common problem? Anything to worry about?

Alot depends on MANY things you don't mention. Your age for instance, how many nails?  Do you work outside?
It may be a nail fungus.  I do not think bleeding under the nails is common.
You should probably have it looked at if it continues.
