Early Pregnancy Bleeding: What to Do When Worried
QuestionI am 6 and 1/2 weeks pregnant and have begun to spot bright red. Not enough to even soak a liner however I have numerous miscarriages that begin in the first trimester. My doc didn't want to see me till my next check up in one week from today and told me it was common in a lot of women. This began two days ago. It went from Dark colored spotting to bright red, it is in my urine on occasion and clots fall out on occasion. Should I demand he see me or just wait it out. I am very scared. No cramping but the clots are bright and blue and that worries me. They are about the size of a dime. Otherwise I have no other pain.
AnswerDear Kristie
It is always better to have urgent medical exam and advise especially with pregnancy complaints as any delay may have adverse effects on the pregnancy.
Meanwhile, you have to have complete bed rest, avoid household activities, intercourse, excercise...etc. The description you gave make me feel that this is a case of threatened abortion with a possibility to continue pregnancy in more than 50% of cases with rest and some medications that your doctor may prescribe.
On the other hand, I am a little confused about 2 things u mentioned..1-You said the bleeding was in your urine?? it could be from a totally different source and not related to pregnancy such as a urinary stone 2-It is abnormal to have dark blood for 2 days then gets bright red..in fact the opposite is true for abortion cases that it is bright red then turns dark.
Therefore i advise u speeding up your appointment for proper diagnosis and treatment and wish you a successful pregnancy this time.
Good Luck
