QuestionQUESTION: I started on methotrexate therapy for Rheumatoid arthritis about 8 weeks ago. Within 24 hours, I started having vaginal bleeding and it pretty much hasn't stopped since. It varies fron bright red to brownish-black and it's not a lot, but now i have an odor and I can't get in to see a MD for another month. Any suggestions?

QUESTION: Oh, I'm sorry...
I'm 29 years old, I was diagnosed w/ RA 2 months ago...I take Methotrexate 12.5mg qweek, Hyzaar qday, zocor qday, sulfasalazine 1000mg TID(started the same time as methotrexate), and Microgestin FE qday(taken for several years). This bleeding thing is cyclical...it is always worse within a few hours of the methotrexate and by the following week, when it's time to take it again there seems to be a definate decrease in the amount. It's frustrating. I have never had anything like this and I'm trying to think of anything...maybe my coags are out of whack. I thought about taking some vitamin K, thats supposed to help with bleeding. What do you think?
Thank you for your time...
Wendy
Answerwendy;
one of the side effects to methotrexate is the begining of irregular menstrual cycles.
you should talk with your doctors about your concerns and take it from there.
dont take a vitamin K shot,without speaking to your doctor frist.
sorry i cant do more;
