Leg Pain & Numbness: Understanding Potential Causes

Question
I am not sure what this is but for awhile now, off and on I'll get this weird feeling in my leg that's hard to describe. It's a wierd pain in a small line on the back of my right leg, from right below my buttocks down to about my knee, then in my heel. It feels sensitive to light touch and cold, but at the same time feels like it's beneath the skin. It's not a constant thing, for example, it was bothering me on Monday, seemed to go away on Tuesday, then was bothering me again this morning, then went away again this afternoon. Sometimes it goes away for weeks at a time then comes back. I get moderate exercise 3-4 times a week - with walking included. I work 9-5 at an office, but am up and down several times during the day. Do you have any idea of what this could be.

Answer
it sounds like sciatica, meaning the nerve going to your leg is being pinched a little, usually at the level of the low back, sometimes by a bulging disc... most of the time, it gets better if you take care of your low back (no heavy lifting) and take an anti-inflammatory like motrin for a few weeks.... if it keeps up, you need to see your doctor.
