QuestionTwo weeks ago I started sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose...and then after a couple days it got better. A couple days later it got worse...and I had a headache right over all the sinuses, my ears and throat hurt, so I finally went to the doctor after 10 days of this. I was given a prescription to take 3000mg of amoxacillin for 10 days for sinus infection, told to stop my zyrtec and take sudafed, and to push fluids. So a couple days into that, I was actually feeling better, but now i've got headache stuff going on and i'm not sure what to attribute it too. I had some signs of dehydration, seems like I cant drink enough, and on top of that I have been cold and had chills. The most bothersome of it all though is the headaches, they are over the sinuses, but generally my whole head now. the only other cause I can think of is stress or a side effect of the medicine. I am not a stranger to sinus infection, but i dont ever remember the headache part haning on so long before. have any advice?
Answeryes.... it is hard now to tell exactly what is going on, but I would get some AFRIN NASAL SPRAY and use it twice a day for 3-5 days. (You don't want to use this long term for allergies.)
It sounds like you had a viral cold initially, then progressed to a sinus infection, then that faded but not completely, then has recurred a little. Sometimes if you just open the sinus' (Afrin works a lot better than sudafed) then the infection goes away. It is possible that if you wind up with bloody green nasal secretions, that you might need another course of antibiotics.
