QuestionI measure my sugar level before I go to bed after about 4 hrs of fasting and then again when I wake up after about 10 to 11 hours of fasting.
I am not on any medication.
Several time I have found that the morning measurement (145) is higher than the before bed measurement (136) even thought it is a longer fast.
What is the reason for the higher level? Is it a reason for concern?
Thanks
Jeremiah
AnswerThere is a natural cycle that causes blood sugar to pop back up slightly in the mornings. Of course, I need to mention in case anyone reading this question thinks your values are normal, both values are too high for fasting blood glucoses, but I'm assuming you are diabetic.
Normal fasting glucose is 70-100 mg/deciliter.
