QuestionA friend told me who is not a doctor but a diabet that Normal fasting blood sugar is between 45 and 100. Fasting blood sugar between 100 and 125 indicates impaired sensitibity to insulin and fasting blood sugar above 125 indicates diabetes.
please tell me about random blood sugar and what tests are necessary to judge wether a person is sugar patient or not.thanks.
AnswerActually, fasting normal for adults is 60-109
Impaired fasting glucose is 100-125 with an 8 hour fast.
Diabetes is > 126 afer a minumus of 8 hours fasting or a 2 hour post 75 grams of sugar test of > 200
Any of these tests are OK for diagnosing normal or diabetes:
a fasting glucose after at least an 8 hour fast
a 2 hour postload of 75 gram of sugar blood test
