PCOS & Ovulation: Tracking Cycles & Fertility
QuestionIve recently been diagnosed with PCOS. I have very irregular menstrual cycles. Prior to this last period my lmp was 11/22/07. Two wks ago I was put on Provera to induce a period. Last wk I started having sore breasts and even though I had a period this week (which was light for not having one for 2 months)they continue to be sore. My husband and I are trying to get pregnant and seeing an RE (he has a very low sperm count). I had cycle day 2 blood work drawn yest which according to the nurse showed Im probably getting ready to ovulate already even though Im just finishing my period (estrogen was 230). Could the very early ovulation be the result of the Provera or does it have something to do with PCOS?
AnswerHi Jennifer ;-)
I am not a medical Dr and my opinion/advice should not be taken as such.
I guess first thing im going to ask you- Did your RE's office do a pregnancy test too? If not, grab a urine test rated for 25 mIU and rule that out first. You can buy a sensitive test at most any dollar store for 1.00
The reason im suggesting this is because sore breasts is a first sign of pregnancy, and your bleeding was light. Now with that aside and assuming they already gave you a pregnancy test, with PCOS- your ovulation can be all over the place. Even with clomid to induce ovulation, I never ovulated when I was supposed to and I missed IUI cycles because the follicle would be gone when my RE did the ultrasound to measure one. Sometimes I ovulated early, and sometimes I ovulated late and its very frustrating when you are trying to conceive. If you have a good RE, it wont take him very long to figure out how to tailor your treatment to the way your body reacts to it. My best guess is that your early ovulation has to do with the PCOS, but I would ask my RE on my next visit to be sure. I hope this helps some.
