QuestionI am only eighteen years old, i have no children; but would like to have some one day.
I haven't received my monthly's in almost 4 months. The first day of my last period was September 7, 2005, it is now nearing January 2006. I have always had problems with my cycle (not understanding) but it only went so far, (usually up to 81 days)and now it has gotten to the point where i am worried about my health and if i am an able to one day bare children.
I had gone for a pregnancy test Novmeber 25 at a walkin in clinic, but was informed that the test was negative. I was on a contraceptive but I quit over 16 months ago. Since then i have had only 5 periods.
I want to know if there is something really wrong with me, and if i need to see a doctor about something else rather than a late period.
AnswerNothing is wrong with your health. It is very common for women to have "anovulatory" cycles until they are 21 years of age. If you do not ovulate, you usually will not get your period, and can go for several months without a period. If you want to regulate your periods, you should have stayed on the birth control pills. I would suggest that you start the pills again and stick with them. They are healthy to take.
