QuestionI have been off birth control for a year and 2 months. I was on NuvaRing for about 2 weeks, I stopped taking it because it seemed like I was losing hair and I was really emotional. Since then my periods have been chaotic. I had maybe 2 normal periods then I didn't have my period for 3 months almost 4!! When my period returned it was heavy and lasted for 2 weeks! I have been having this problem for MONTHS now, its very annoying. My fiance and I have been also trying to concieve, but thats clearly not going to happen since my periods are so crazy. I had my yearly physical 3 weeks ago at the local health department and they didn't tell me anything. It was basically they were getting me in there to do my physical and then trying to get me out without answering any questions. They did tell me to take birth control pills to regulate my period, but I really don't want to take birth control pills again. What could possibly be wrong? I hate having 2 week long periods, and its really depressing not being able to concieve. I'm from South Carolina.

The health department is a government agency and their purpose is not to provide personalized patient care. That is why they didn't answer your questions or treat you appropriately. If you want good care, you have to see a good clinic/doctor.
You have some type of hormonal dysfunction going on. I cannot tell you what it is without testing. It is not normal,however. I would recommend that you go see a Gynecologist or Fertility specialist to undergo an evaluation. If you don't have insurance, this may be expensive, but it is important because there are some bad things that could be causing the abnormal bleeding.
