Understanding Vaginal Discharge During Pregnancy: What to Expect
QuestionHello,
I am currently 15.4 days pregnant. About a week ago, I had very very light cramping. It didn't hurt nor bothered me, so I thought nothing of it. Later that day, I went to use the bathroom, and when I wiped, I saw this long-short string of mucus. It was clear, with a tinge of yellow in it...I touched it and it was very sticky to the touch. It had no order, nor was I itching. That was the only day/setting I've seen this, and I haven't seen it since. What was that? Did I loose part of my plug? Is it even possible to loose some this early on? I do have a history of a miscarriage, but now that I'm in my second trimester, that's unlikely to happen though still possible.
AnswerYou are worrying yourself sick over a very innocuous matter. That discharge was simply the excess mucous being produced by the cervix and the vagina. During pregnancy there is increased blood flow into the pelvis and this leads to a whitish mucoid discharge which is quite harmless. You can read more about this and other pregnancy disorders from my website.
