Sternum Pain After Injury: Is It a Fracture?
QuestionGreetings!
A few days ago my son jumped hard on my sternum and since then I've some mild discomfort down the middle of it. Two days ago I pushed on it to massage it, and my sternum made a sort of a "creaking" sound much like when wood sounds when it starts to split.
It's not acute pain and in fact it feels a bit better after I took 2 ibruoprofens a few hrs ago.
Does this sound like I might have a fractured sternum? what would you recommend my course of action?
Thank you,
Roger
Answerthe sternum has multiple joints.... connecting to ribs.... it takes a tremendous amount of force to fracture a sternum.... more likely some damage to the joints (that move very little) and taking ibuprofen 3-4 times a day for a few days and it should resolve....
