QuestionHello. My LMP was march 18 (but i'm very irregular) i've taken 4 home pregnancy tests (on may 11 and 12)and they've all been positive (yay!) I have my first appointment monday (5/21) but i have a question: i'm experincing some minor cramping and pain, almost like menstrual cramps . . . no blood or discharge, just this nagging cramping. we've been trying for 3 yrs to get pregnant with our second child (i'm 32 y.o, if that helps) thank you for any insight you can give.
AnswerThe menstrual cramp-like pain you describe could be due to your expanding uterus and the strain it puts on the surrounding ligaments. With second (or more) children, your uterus will expand sooner and faster, since it has already been stretched out before. You may also feel round ligament pain sooner than you did last time. Try doing some pelvic rocks several times a day and see if this helps.
Something else that I noticed during my last pregnancy was that it became uncomfortable to wear my normal clothes long before I truly needed maternity clothes. My normal jeans would cause me to feel cramping-like pain, as you are describing, especially when I sat down or bent over. When I gave up and moved into maternity pants (even though I was only a couple months along), the cramping went away. So that's something else for you to try.
Good luck, and congratulations on your new pregnancy!
