QuestionHI - my doctor wants me to see a neurologist and seems to think I may have MS, has ruled out viral infections with blood test. I wonder if it's vitamin deficiency or thyroid still to low for me. What do you think makes more sense?
Female, 32 yrs, 180lbs, work out 4 days week, lactose intolerant & don't eat red meat or carbs much. Moderate stressed life.
Current medications: synthroid .100mg for thyroid, motrin 800 for pain, and some type of muscle relaxer to sleep for spasms.
Blood test revealed TSH at 1.7 level, B-12 at 390 level, AST low (fatty liver I was told).
Symptoms: Back pain low to upper through mid, not muscle pain, only muscle spasms (onset 80 days ago), weak and tired (onset yrs ago but synthroid & fitness helped, second onset months ago), migraines lasting hours to all day, sometimes relieved by motrin 800(onset couple months), tingling & numbness in both feet/toes (onset month ago/more maybe), spasms in right arm, when sleep (onset 80 days ago). I started to think my thyroid was low 6 months, hypoglycemic symptoms (dizzy), been tired, no monthly menstrual cycle, hard to concentrate, gained 20 lbs from march-june. But as noted above my levels seem ok. Sometimes I do feel more depressed but don't know how, I have a lot going for me right now. Some days I can do my 45 min workout with only a little struggle others I'm weak in the first 10 mins.
AnswerI am not sure what your question is, but the B12 should be replaced... often people with low B12 can't absorb it in their intestine so it has to be given in a shot or a nasal gel.... that can cause the numbness symptoms. The thyroid looks OK, with a TSH of 1.7 you are close to the right dose. If I were doing this, I would start the B12 therapy and see how you respond.
