Strep Throat and Skin Rash: Possible Scarlet Fever? - Medical Advice

Question
I'm a 20 year year old male.  2 months ago I contracted mono.  Those symptoms have been gone for over a month now.  10 days I was diagnosed with Strep throat.  I was given Cephalexin.  On the 9th day of my prescription (yesterday), I began developing a skin rash.  Today I returned to the doctor.  He couldn't exactly pinpoint why the rash had developed at the time it did, and prescribed a penicillin type antibiotic for me.  I believe it is Scarlet fever, but there are some things that make me doubt.  Here are the details.  My palms and wrists showed symptoms first.  Slight itch and small red dots, dont feel raised.  This soon appeared on my arms, chest, and back.  Today it is near my genitals and thighs, too.  Itchy ears.  I have no fever, it was 97.8 today.  Absolutely no sypmtoms today or yesterday on the face.  Fatigue present, appetite was fine.  No remarkable discoloration of the tongue.  Lymph nodes in neck were swollen with the mono and first few days of the strep, but not now.  I'm just hoping its not a more serious rash.  What do you think?

Answer
I don't know what a more serious rash means.... but it doesn't really sound like scarlet fever rash... that feels like sandpaper and isn't red.  It could be a reaction to the Keflex or could be a rash because of the Mono... you need to watch out in the future for a rash associated with antibiotic use, but no matter what the rash is from, it will get better..... I hope this helps...
