IBS & Blood in Stool: Understanding Causes & When to Worry
QuestionI am a 19 yr. old female. I was diagnosed with IBS about a yr ago. I have had 2 colonoscopies starting at age 16. I have not been told with either of those test that any hemorrhoids were found or seen nor any scar tissue was found or seen. But they do run in my family. Im used to the cramping that the occasional blood in the toilet but my bug question is... is it normal for pretty much all of the water in the toilet to be red from the blood? And today when i had a bowel movement i seen a small blood clot as well.. Is that normal for someone with IBS and possible hemorrhoids?
Answerit doesn't take much blood to bloody up the toilet water. But no, rectal bleeding in general is not normal. And IBS by itself doesn't cause bleeding. They won't necessarily comment on hemm's because they are so common also. But, with all this, I would wonder whether you might have inflammatory bowel disease, like Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis...... I hope this helps
