Understanding Skin Discoloration & Pubic Area Issues

Question
I am a 24 year old male and am experiencing a bit of skin discoloration. Over the past month, maybe even more, I have noticed a small pink patch on the base of my penis, right by the pubic region. If I do not shave the area I would not be able to see it. As of roughly 3 weeks ago I went into my doctor's office because of an inflamed hair follicle in the pubic region. It did not go away and more got inflamed about a week after that first visit so I went back in. I was diagnosed with folliculitis, and determined it comes from my job that I walk around for 8 hours a day so the skin gets irritated. I was prescribed hydrocorisone cream and whenever I apply the cream it helps. I was wondering if this pink patch is related to the folliculitis or something serious, or could just be my skin color and I never noticed before? If need be I can attach a picture for clarification

Answer
It is hard to tell, but a couple of ideas......

hydrocortisone cream can de-pigment an area if used for a long period of time.

This could be a form of vitiligo, where there is some spontaneous de-pigmentation that is usually permanent.
