Treadmill-Related Foot Pain: Causes & Potential Solutions

Question
For the past 3 weeks I've been getting a mild aching pain on the side of my foot.  I started using the treadmill (30 min/day, 4.5 mph) 2 months ago, and the pain intensifies when I use the treadmill.  I am able to walk on the foot and there's no visible swelling. I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis in December and have been trying to exercise to increase my bone density.

Any suggestions on what this might be?

Thank you.

Answer
This forum is not for the diagnosis or treatment of illness/disease.  However what you are describing is worthy of a visit to your PCP or an orthopaedists.  You may have one of the following:

1.  A stress fracture due to deconditioned state and your body not having time to adjust to your new workout schedule.  Also with severe osteoporosis you may be more succeptable to fracture.

2.  A condition called plantar fasciitis

3.  A mild strain/sprain of your foot ligaments

While I cannot give a definitive DX here... seek medical help before it gets worse.
