Understanding Cycle Length Changes After Birth Control – Is It Normal?

Question
I've just began charting my cycles, and I'm not confident at all with my charting ability just yet. Last month I had a 32 day cycle, but this month I'm already on day 35 with almost no sign of starting soon. I stopped taking my regular month to month birth control pill 3 months ago. I don't know when or even if I should start to worry, on other sites it says not to worry until 90 days have passed, that just seems like such a long time to wait for a period to start. I've had some cramping the past 2 weeks with some breast tenderness and all-of-a-sudden when my boyfriend an I have sex I have to stop him and run to the restroom to urinate which had never happened to me before. Should I talk to my regular doctor about this or wait and see? I'm not 100% sure what to think right now.

Answer
when you stop the pills, your periods may be irregular for a while.  If they were irregular prior to BCP's then they will probably be irregular again.

The running to the bathroom thing is not reliable for anything except a possible urinary tract / bladder infection.

When you track periods, the first day of menses is the critical day.

Get a urine check for an infection.  Also, do a home pregnancy test tomorrow morning with a first morning urine.  (most accurate, most oncentrated)

I hope this helps.....
