Understanding and Treating Rectal Rashes: Causes & Relief

Question

Rash
I have had a rash for about 4 weeks now. It is very itchy and irritated. Also, when making a bowel movement, it feels like tearing on the inside of the rectum, even with soft stools. I have tried antifungul creams, but they are not helping. I have attached a picture for you to see. Any help would be great. Thank you

Answer
thanks for that lovely picture! :)

That is jock itch, tinea cruris, etc.......

A fungal infection down there...... now, fungus likes warm and wet, so the goal is keeping it cool and dry......

I like using Mycolog II cream prescription triamcinilone/nystatin........ it has a steroid that decreases some inflammation and the anti-fungal.   But you need more than that.... you got to keep that area as dry as possible.... I sometimes get it down in SC with the heat and use Mycostatin talcum powder and that by itself can sometimes work also but you need to use a lot of powder too, to keep moisture away.  And, you need to treat for 3 weeks.... the symptoms get better in a few days but to eradicate, it takes weeks.   So the prescription cream plus powder or at least the medicated powder twice a day and it should get better......
