Persistent Heat Rash During Pregnancy: Relief & Solutions

Question
I am currently 35 weeks pregnant. I have developed a heat rash along my groin/panty line/inner thigh. I know it is due to my excessive sweating and heat that I have developed in the last month. I have tried everything my doctor advised- powder, medicated powder, lotrisone cream, cortisone cream. Nothing is helping. Do you have any other suggestions?

Answer
Dear Cindy,

It sounds like you have tried everything that I would have recommended - the powder to keep moisture down and hydrocortisone cream to decrease the inflammatory response. The only other suggestion I would have may or may not be convenient for you... I would spend as much time as you can allowing air to reach that area. Personally, I'd be lying bottomless on the bed with a fan blowing on me as much as possible. Cool air will do more to heal it than anything else. While sitting and watching TV or whatever, you can try cool (dry) packs on each side of the groin. If the panties irritate the area, you may try wearing panty liners in your clothing and go without panties for awhile.

Aside from that, all I can do is empathize.  :-(

I hope this has helped you and answered your question. I wish you well.
