Missed 8-Week Prenatal Appointment? What to Do

There is a chance I'll miss my 8 Week, first time check up for my first pregnancy, due to a court summons.  (I witnessed a wreck.)  Anyhoo, that is all to say that I am in a panic.  The guy can't get me in until week 10.  Can I wait that long?  Should I see some other ob in the meantime?

Without any problems you can safely wait until you are 10 weeks for your initial OB check.  The major reason to rush in any sooner would be if your dates were in question.  I often will order an early OB ultrasound in women who are uncertain about their LMP.  An early U/S is much more specific on establishing dates that a later U/S.  If you are fairly certain as to the 1st day of your last menstrual period and don't have a history of two or more miscarriages or other problems you can safely wait.
