Understanding Breast Lumps in Men: Causes, Symptoms & What to Do
Questionmy husband has a hard lump about 1/2 inch from his niple, he says it is nothing, of course, but I do know that men can and do get breast tumors, what would we look at in this lump? it is hard, pretty circular and about the size of a pea. He is normal weight and height and is 47 years old, we had a child with a meddulablastoma @ 17 years old, so naturally this worries me. Thank you
AnswerLet your husband read this! Thanks for asking! Men can indeed get breast cancer, though there are about 100 female breast cancers for each male. On the other hand men often neglect any sign of it because they believe it can not happen to them and are therefore in such cases often rather advanced when found - which does not help the prognosis one bit. Your husband should immediately seek the help of a surgeon to have his lesion totally removed and examined by a pathologist, so that we will know what we are dealing with! Any further action depends on what is found. Good luck! If your husband does not believe this reply and advice, ask him to read my biography page here so he will know who I am!
