Regaining Fertility After Birth Control: Cycle Changes & Conception
QuestionI am 22 years old and I have been off my birth control(ortho tri-cyclen) for about of a year. I took it for about a year and a half. Before starting birth control I had a pretty regular cycle. Since I have been off I have been late and having long cycles. I am trying to get pregnant and not been successful yet. I have been taking my period for almost a month and I haven's seen any change. My doctor thinks I may not be ovulating and said I may have to try fretility pills (clomid) is it to soon for this or should we keep trying. Thanks
AnswerOne of the risks of taking the birth control pill is that you may not regain your fertility after suppresssing it. I would consult a doctor who will help you regain your healthy natural functioning before going into more chemical pills. You've already subjected your body to enough trauma. Healing can take time. On the other hand, even at 22 you could have passed your optimum fertile time. There are no guarantees to fertility. That's why it is such a bad idea to take contraceptives. Always keep trying. Children are such a blessing. But many of the scientific ways of inducing pregnancy are continuing the damage to your body and should be avoided.
