Missed Period After Birth Control: Understanding Delayed Ovulation & Pregnancy

Question
I have a question, but here's my quick situation:

I stopped taking birth control pills at the end of April '09, I was two weeks late of getting my period in May, and got my period on time (4 weeks) in June. It is now September 9th, and I am almost 3 months late. I have taken 1 pregnancy test in the beginning of August, and the test came out negative. I have been taking ovulation tests for almost a month to see when I am ovulating, and I have not been ovulating.

My husband and I are trying to have a baby, but it is really frustrating when you are trying to conceive and nothing is happening.

What is wrong with me? What should I do?

Answer
Hello Elizabeth,

Thanks for your question. I'm sorry to hear of your situation. I would recommend that you consult your doctor and see if he/she can help you with fertility suggestions. Also, there is an expert here on ALLEXPERTS.com who is a Natural Family Planning expert. Her name is Bridget and I hope she is still online.

You could be pregnant and it just not showing up. I really can't tell you about that. Also, sometimes it takes a length of time to get the hormones from the birth control pills out of your system. How long have you been trying to have a baby? Write back on here or DCHERYL51@yahoo.com

Sincerely,
Diane Cheryl
