Medical Abortion vs. Aspiration: A Comprehensive Guide for Early Pregnancy
QuestionHi,
I am 36 y.o. and have two children, ages 10 and 2. I recently found out that I am pregnant, still very early 4w 2d. My husband and I are in full agreement that we are done having children. My dr wants to wait another few days to make sure she can see the u/s before performing the abortion. I live in the US next to a major medical center so all options are available to me. Would you recommend medical or manual aspiration in my case? It's March 9 as I write this. We are flying on a family vacation to the Caribbean on April 6, and I want to have the bleeding stop by then if at all possible.
Thank you.
AnswerEither would be fine at this point. However with the Aspiration, the bleeding should stop 2 weeks after the procedure and the period starts 4-6 weeks after the procedure. If you start an Oral contraceptive pill, you can delay the period by not taking the placebo pills and go straight to another pack.
Will the medication abortion spotting can occur for 4 weeks. You are so early that unusually does not happen. IT is March 9, so you have plenty of time.
