Questionhello
I was just wondering if its ok to not have your period for sometime after an abortion. Mine was approx 7 weeks ago and Im starting to get worried and I have been reading some articles on websites and still unsure.
I also have been feeling quite anxious and gulity about my decision could this cause me to not have a period?
My parter (ex) dumped me straight after I told him of the pregnancy and then pressured me to not have the baby and i think that maybe I am finding it hard to get over and find some peace.
What would your thoughts be on this?
AnswerHi, Sarah,
I can't really tell you specifically about your body. For that, you'd have to go to a doctor. However, I can tell you that stress can cause a woman not to have her period. So could the possibility she's still pregnant. Abortion also disrupts some delicately balanced hormones, so there is no real predicting how a given woman's body will react.
It seems evident that you were coerced into abortion. This can be a major cause of guilt feelings, because had you received a minimum amount of support, you probably wouldn't have had one.
I am here to help you with the emotional and spiritual aspects, and there are also pregnancy agencies that have good programs for women who are feeling negative emotions after abortion. You can find one near you by going here: http://www.pregnancycenters.org/ . Also, there are discussion boards online that are specifically for women who are suffering an emotional response to abortion. I am involved in one, and another good place is http://www.afterabortion.com/
I recommend you check with a doctor about your lack of a period, and by all means seek some healing from the experience you have had. There are also spiritual consequences. If it is something you do, please pray. God is ready to forgive you.
Feel free to write back any time.
Take care!
