Post-Abortion Pain & Bleeding: Possible Complications & What to Do

Question
I had a medical abortion in July so that is now 8 months ago. Ever sense then i keep getting back bains and stomach pains. The back pains have lessened but are still there. The stomach pains are sharp pains that last for about 5-6 seconds every week or so i get these and they are gasping pains that i would rate a 10 for the highest amount of pain. I have also been experiencing brown spotting ever sense the abortion. The bleeding lasts for 7 days straight a full week every month about 2 to 1 week before my period is due. I also started birth control pills 4 months ago in november but i know spotting lasts only a few days but this lasts for a full week. The bleeding fills up about i'd say 3 maybe 4 light day pads a day. One day a month after the abortion i started bleeding red blood and as i was going to the bathroom what appered to be tissue came out it was gray and hard and about a little bit more than an 1 inch in length. And i don't know if there is any remaining tissue still left in there or what. When I went to the nurse at Planned Parenthood a week after the abortion there was still a good amount of blood in my uterus on my left side which is the side the fetus was attached to and the right side was clear the nurse marked it as a complete abortion. So is there any chance the blood was blocking any tissue that may have been left in there. The nurse did a transvaginal ultrasound. Have you ever herd of anything like this before because i don't know if i should tell my gynocologist or if it's something serious like the tissue is still in there. I was also 6 weeks and 2 days pregnant during the medical abortion. Can you help me please and give me a clue as to what might be going on?

Answer
Liz,

I would recommend going for a second opinion. This sounds dangerous to me and I would be concerned. Maybe you should go in for a checkup at your regular gyn as you mentioned. Please email me at CHERYL51@aol.com and let me know what happens as I'm worried about you. It could be an infection or something. Please don't risk your health or life. Make an appointment immediately or if you have the severe pains, go to an emergency clinic. Write soon!
