QuestionHi I had a surgical abortion a month ago and was 7 weeks along when I had the procedure. Since I have been having this whitish discharge and am a bit concerned. I took my antibiotics like I was supposed to. I bled for like a day after the procedure and then it stopped and started back up a few days later for like a week and was fairly lite bleeding. And then I hadn't taken a bath for 2 weeks after, although I did take showers before the 2 weeks. and then On the 3rd week after my boyfriend and I kinda got into it and we started messing around a bit and did get a bit intense when he pulled his finger out there was a decent amount of blood on it, and I spotted for the next day after that. I was just wondering what would cause that and also the discharge(which I guess the discharge may be a yeast infection) But if you could inform me on this I would greatly appreciate it. Cause I thought after 3 weeks I would be ok for sex related things again. And also I still have a bit of a pudge in the stomach area afterward, is that normal? I mean I don't think I am pregnant anymore and am actually losing weight so idk. Thanks for your help.
AnswerHi Kiersten,
yes, this is a yeast infection that can, and should be, treated.
periods and bleeding patterns after an abortion are irregular and unpredictable.
Better not "messing around" until you had your first normal period.
Loosing weight is a good sign that the abortion was successful.
if you want to be more sure use condoms.
This yeast infection goes on without symptoms in men.
After your treatment he may infect you again.
So feed him the drugs as well.
Bests,
dr Shan.
