Why Does Nail Polish Chip? Causes & Solutions

Hello... I have a problem getting nail polish to stay on. I have natural nails and I buff the nail, apply a base coat, one to two coats of color, and a top coat, and within a day or two they chip (pretty badly). I dont know what to do differently to change this.

I was also wondering if silk wraps would help this problem. Thanks!

This could be either the quality of the polish (that is not very good) or you are stressing out your nails. Do you have them in water for long periods of time like doing the dishes? Do you usually wear gloves? Or perhaps you are applying the polish to thick. Also are your nails clean when you apply the polish? You should clean them with polish remover to cleanse any skin oils on them prior to polish application.
