QuestionI did a french manicure on a client yesterday using essie products. 1 base coat, white tips 1 coat of pink and a top coat. Appx 14 hours later she went swimming for 25 minutes and the polish started to peel off from the tips. I am newly qualified and thought 12 hrs was fine before swimming. What did I do wrong. My client has awful nails as she has just had acrylics taken off, could that affect the result.
AnswerHi Julie, apologies for the delay in answering.
There are a few possible reasons for this happening.
Nails that are thin and weak will struggle to keep on nail enamel.
Swimming is the worst thing for manicures, worse than washing up! not only are the nails exposed to water for a long period of time, but the chemicals in the water are very harse.
If the client is intent on keeping up her swimming she may have to consider having artifitial nailsagain as they will cope with the swimming.
Or, refrain from swimming until nails harder, prob 8-12 weeks.
every week her nails will be better, so the swimming and manicures can co-exist!
good luck
Liza
