QuestionIs the gel used for light concept nails toxic? Can it get into your bloodstream? What are the side effects? How about the burning from the UV light? is that normal? what does it mean?
AnswerHi Anne
There does not exist a toxic UV Gel ASSUMING that it is a true UV Gel. True UV Gels require absolutely NO POWDER at all. The only toxic products are MMA based Acrylic (more info here: http://ongles-chez-victoria.tripod.com/victoriasnails/id18.html)
No, it can not get into your bloodstream. There are no 'side effects' from UV Gel.
The 'burning' known as a 'heat spike' is what occurs when the molecules first start to have a chemical reaction under the light and start moving around very fast. This movement causes a 'friction burn' that abates very quickly.
To avoid this 'spike', your technician should flash your hand a couple of times.
To flash means to apply the product, place hand under the lamp for only 5 seconds and immediately remove it up and above, away from the light for another 5 seconds. Repeat this 3 or 4 times, then leave your hand under the light for a full cure.
Some people are more sensitive than others and will feel this spike, others may not. sometimes it depends on the brand of UV Gel or the lamp may be too high for that brand. However, in most cases, it's simply a cause of client sensitivity.
I hope this helps.
