Gel Nail Allergy: Causes, Symptoms & Safe Alternatives

Hi. I have tried gel nails and love them but I have severe itching and tenderness around my nail for 3 days. I tried the base coat and top coat on a seperate area of my hand and had a bad reaction to the base coat. Is there a substitute or must I give up forever?

Hello Liegh, thank you for visiting AllExperts.  I am a natural nail care specialist and have done some research on the gels, gelac and shellac.  I have yet to find someone who after using these treatments, has not had a reaction or had their nails compromised.  Quite honestly, acrylic has less offense.  My suggestion would be to stop the process, contact a dermatologists and ask his or her advise. Mthe only product like you are currently using is a product by Jessica called Generation. If you can find a tech that uses this product you might give it a try.  You can call Jessica Nails and ask them who may be using their product in your area.  Kindly, Pamela Golightly
