QuestionI am graduating shortly from Nail School. I would like to do gels in the salon & spa I currently work for. Any recommendations for a cetain co. you like? Where do I find more info regarding training and ordering?
AnswerDear Angie,
If you are located in the US, then I advise you visit the site www.beautytech.com and they can best advise you what schools and distributors would be more suitable to where you are located.
It is also a site with tutorials and other helpful information, with plenty of support from other techs if you have questions.
If you live in the UK, a similar site (and better in my opinion) is thesalongeek.com. AWESOME site, fantastic and VERY informative and talented technicians.
If UV Gels is what you want to do, first you must find out what you want from UV gels. These are the following questions to ask yourself:
- Soakable or file/buff off?
- Do you want colour gel polishes?
- Camouflage gels for biters?
- The ability to do custom colours?
- Self-levelling or strictly builder gel?
- Cheap training or TOP OF THE LINE?
- What kind of customer support do you want?
Etc...
I have tried cheaper gels. I have learned that to get great customer support, top performance etc... you need to go with the higher end gels.
I personally prefer EZ FLow "Gel-It", but there are many other great gels out there.
Another place to check out is nailite.com. FANTASTIC prices for all sorts of nail technician products.
Let them know that I referred you, and be sure to ask for a 'sample package" from Betsey. Sample package's are free (though sometimes they charge shipping) and great for helping you decide what you like.
