QuestionHi, I just had UV gels (no powder at all, but electric filing to roughen the
surface before the gel was applied, cures under UV lights for 3-5 mins)
applied and I love the look. I was told this technique will wear better than a
regular manicure on my natural nails. It seems to be, but am I damaging my
natural nails with the electric filing? Also, as I type for a living, hitting the
keys feels different than on my own nails, is this a signal something isn't
right, or is this just how they feel? Thanks for your help.
AnswerHi Susan-
Yes, you are damaging your nails but if properly done minimally. The file will roughen the nail plate which when given a manicure should be hydrated and go away. Your nails will feel different because you have something on them. They should never hurt though. It will take time getting use to them but just remember that where you type if you get any cracks or fissures in the gel have them repaired becuase it can make them worse. Good Luck
