Nail Tips for Teens: A Safe & Stylish Guide

Hi,
 I am 13 yrs old and wanteed to get fake nails but hearing all about the upkeep and nasty things that can happen to your natural nail bothered me. I bit my nails and was wandering if i should get tips? Are they just a.. like tip added to your nail to make it appear longer without having a whole new nail? should I get them, what are they? Thankx!

Hi Nicole.
Tips are nail extensions that are glued to your natural nail using a special nail glue(not crazy glue). They help to add length to your nail. You can get any enhancement gel,acrylic,wraps put on top of them. Since you are a nail biter you are a bit trickier when it comes to if you are a canidate for tips or not. The nail technician will have to make that assesment during your consultation. If you do not like upkeep then no do not get fake nails. They require 2wk upkeep plus breakage maitenance.I recommend for your age a nice manicure. Go with a bright polish or dark polish to prevent your urge to bite your polished nails.
